cone eight staff tee shirt
A staff tee shirt commissioned by Cone Eight Ceramics Studio
I was commissioned by Cone Eight Ceramics Studio to design a Tee shirt for their staff. In conversation with the co founder, KC, I learned the story behind the studio’s name. Cone eight refers to the optimal temperature for firing pottery. During every firing, a cone pack is placed inside the kiln to measure heat accurately. From time to time, the makers peek through the kiln’s spyhole to check the progress. Each cone pack includes cones seven, eight and nine. By the end of the firing, cone seven will have flattened completely, cone eight forms the perfect curved shape, and cone nine remains standing stiff and straight, making cone eight the ideal firing point
